Feast of Simon

This is a Feast day of the LORD that we must learn and keep as a memorial and day of GLADNESS.

Our righteous forefather Simon was known for his strength in exhorting Israel, his family was known among Israel for what they have done in the Laws and in battles for the LORD.

When Simon had heard that Tryphon, the king of Asia after he slewed king Antiochus, was gathering to invade and destroy Jerusalem, he comforted Israel and became a leader unto them, fought against these wicked intruders, and built up a strong high tower and great walls that fenced Judea.

Even in being a mighty governor, Simon showed great mercy in battle and against our people of the city Gaza when they confessed their wickedness against the LORD and pleaded for mercy.  IMaccabees 13:1-53, IMaccabees 14:1-49; IMaccabees 13:51-52, Romans 15:4.

The New Moon Feast

Remember or learn that the new moon is a feast day. This new moon begins the 11th biblical month and is a day of gladness and is not a Sabbath. Therefore, we can work and are able to buy and sell (Psalms 81:3-4, Numbers 10:10, Ecclesiasticus 43:6-9, etc.).

Psalms 81:3 Blow up the trumpet in the new moon, in the time appointed, on our solemn feast day.

Psalms 81:4 For this was a statute for Israel, and a law of the God of Jacob

Numbers 10:10 Also in the day of your gladness, and in your solemn days, and in the beginnings of your months, ye shall blow with the trumpets over your burnt offerings, and over the sacrifices of your peace offerings; that they may be to you for a memorial before your God: I am the LORD your God.

Ecclesiasticus 43:6 He made the moon also to serve in her season for a declaration of times, and a sign of the world.

7 From the moon is the sign of feasts, a light that decreaseth in her perfection.

8 The month is called after her name, increasing wonderfully in her changing, being an instrument of the armies above, shining in the firmament of heaven;

9 The beauty of heaven, the glory of the stars, an ornament giving light in the highest places of the Lord.

The Feast of Dedication

The Feast of Dedication shall be kept as a Feast 8 days [1st and 8th being Sabbaths].

John 10:22 And it was at Jerusalem the feast of the dedication, and it was winter.

John 10:23 And Jesus walked in the temple in Solomon's porch. (IMaccabees 4:52-59, IIMaccabees 1:9-18 & IIMaccabees 10:1-8)

IMaccabees 4:52 Now on the five and twentieth day of the ninth month, which is called the month Casleu, in the hundred forty and eighth year, they rose up betimes in the morning,

IMaccabees 4:53 And offered sacrifice according to the law upon the new altar of burnt offerings, which they had made.

IMaccabees 4:54 Look, at what time and what day the heathen had profaned it, even in that was it dedicated with songs, and citherns, and harps, and cymbals.

IMaccabees 4:55 Then all the people fell upon their faces, worshipping and praising the God of heaven, who had given them good success.

IMaccabees 4:56 And so they kept the dedication of the altar eight days and offered burnt offerings with gladness, and sacrificed the sacrifice of deliverance and praise.

IMaccabees 4:57 They decked also the forefront of the temple with crowns of gold, and with shields; and the gates and the chambers they renewed, and hanged doors upon them.

IMaccabees 4:58 Thus was there very great gladness among the people, for that the reproach of the heathen was put away.

IMaccabees 4:59 Moreover Judas and his brethren with the whole congregation of Israel ordained, that the days of the dedication of the altar should be kept in their season from year to year by the space of eight days, from the five and twentieth day of the month Casleu, with mirth and gladness.
